often go to sales and find that people are pricing

wrong, I LOVE to find great bargains, but these folks
are practically giving their items

! (Sometimes I
actually buy these extremely cheap things to sell at my own because I
know what they are worth and what people will pay for
them.)These poor sellers are not making any return on their
time and efforts that they put into having it. Don't let
this be you!
Every year my family
has a group sale, myself, my mother, my grandmother and
my sister. It is quite a production because we always
have a ton of stuff! I usually make the most money
and it's not because I have better stuff or more stuff,
it's because I know what my items are worth and
what my customers will pay for them .
Last year my sister made around $600 and I
made over twice that, you want to know why? Because
she puts $1.00 on her daughter's cute Gap jeans and
I put $3.00 on my daughter's cute Gap jeans!
How to make
money at your Garage or Yard Sale
I understand that some people have one just to get rid of the
clutter and excess stuff, but to me personally, it is
not worth it if I don't make any money! If
you spend the time planning and preparing your things,
you can make some good money
. You will
be able to get some return on your treasures, your time and
your efforts!
One thing that I have
discovered is that your customers will pay a
little more for good quality items that are in
great condition . They know what
those things are worth and they know they are still
getting a good deal! When I see a pair of Abercrombie
jeans at a sale for $3, $4 or even $5, I will pay it
because I know that those can be $50-70 new
and to be honest, I can't afford to buy them
new!
How to get top dollar prices
for your items
Don't sell junk: Items that are broken beyond
repair, falling apart or badly stained should be
tossed into the garbage.
Prepare your
items: Make sure
your posessions are clean and looking their best, this
shows your customers that you have quality merchandise and that
you took good care of it while you had
it.
Consider the
Age, Brand & Condition: Your customers
will usually pay a little more for pieces that are name
brand and in excellent used condition.
Present your
items: Think of your garage
as a store (there's a reason stores put the candy
in the checkout line!). Display your best treasures,
hang up the best clothing and arrange like
items in categories. A neat and organized environment will
encourage more shopping and more
spending!
